Colchester WWI air raid plaque

The first bomb to fall in Colchester was on 21 February 1915 on 41 Butt Road.  No one was injured but Quarter Master Sgt Rab John was home with his wife and child. Several North School families lived near Butt Road in 1911 and may have witnessed this air raid. These included the Coulson and Purslow family on Constantine Road, the Millican family living at 117 Butt Road and the Springetts on Alexander Road.
