We Will Remember Them commemorates the 76 former pupils from North Primary School who served and died in the First World War.
During the academic year 2014 – 2015 the Year 5 pupils worked with Historian Claire Driver to identify and retell the lives of these individuals. Each pupil was paired with a former pupil to research and write a case study to develop an understanding of their lives.
Photographer Georgia Metaxis developed a photographic archive inspired by the C19th photographer Francis Fryth. The pupils used digital photography to document and map each of the former pupils homes.
Creative Writer Baden Prince inspired the children to retell the former pupils lives using poetry, letter writing, narrative writing and performance.
The pupils commissioned sculptor Ian Etheridge and sign writer Geoff Kent to create a roll of honour, which is now on permanent display in the school hall, to commemorate these men.
