Percy Bell (1898 – 1918) was born in London and lived with his widowed mother and two brothers at 6 Albion Court, Short Wyre Street in 1901. At the time of the 1911 census Percy was living at the Colchester Union and was entered to North School from there by the master.
He joined the army at Warley Barracks, first with the West Kent Regiment and later transferring to the 1st Bedfordshire Regiment. He died in October 1918 and is buried in the Awoingt British Cemetery in France.
