Augustus Mills

Augustus Mills (1894 -1916 ) was born in Colchester. He lived with his parents Alexander and Eliza and sister Mabel at 90 Bergholt Road when he attended North School. By 1911 the family had moved to 51 Maidenburgh Street and Augustus, now aged 17, was working as a butcher’s porter.

Augustus joined the 1st Bedfordshire Regiment, and was killed in action in September 1916. He is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial.
