Victor Mills

Victor Mills (1889 – 1915) was born in Stowmarket. His father worked as a railway porter and later as a points worker on the railway. The family lived in Poplar Lane when Victor went to North School.

Victor joined the 4th King’s Royal Rifle Corps and in 1911 was stationed in India. The battalion left India in November 1914, arriving in France in December. Just over a month later, on 30th January 1915 Victor died of his wounds in the 81st Field Ambulance.

He is buried in Dickebusch Old Military Cemetery in Belgium which was used as a front line cemetery between January and March 1915.
