Fred Munson

Fred Munson (1895 – 1917 ) lived at 7 Myland Road with his widowed mother Augusta and brothers and sisters. He left North School in 1909, and in 1911 when he was 15 he was working as a gardener at a nursery.

Fred joined the Essex Regiment, arriving for action in Gallipoli in August 1915. Once the battalion left there, it stayed in Egypt and Palestine until the end of the war. Fred was killed in action, his death accepted on 2nd April 1917 in Palestine. He is remembered on the Jerusalem Memorial.
