John Scott (1899 – 1918) was born in Leith, Scotland and was living with his parents John and Elizabeth at 6 Green Yard, North Hill when he went to North School and in 1911. John left school in 1913 when he was 14.
He joined the Training Reserves and later the Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He was killed in action in October 1918 when he was 19. He was awarded the British War Medal, which indicated that he served abroad, but he may not have been entitled to the Allied Victory Medal which would mean that he had not been in an active area.
