Frederick Shynn (1895 – 1917) lived at 42 North Hill which was a bakery run by his father Fred. He left North School in 1909 and joined his father in the business.
Fred served with the Norfolk Regiment and the Royal Fusiliers. He died in October 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres. His death was recorded in the St Peters Parish magazine which says he was “killed near Ypres”. He is remembered on Tyne Cot Memorial to the Missing in Belgium and on the roll of honour in St Peter’s Church, North Hill.
