Stanley Slythe (1899 – 1918) lived at 99 Bergholt Road when he attended North School. Stanley’s father George worked for himself as a piano tuner. Stanley left school in 1913.
Stanley was sent to France after 1916, serving with the East Kent Regiment and then the Machine Gun Corps, died September 1918. He is buried in Bedford House Cemetery in Belgium
