George Springett (1892 – 1918 ) lived at 22 West Stockwell Street when he started at North School. He lived there with his parents and his 6 siblings. His father Thomas was a baker and confectioner. George left school in 1906, and by 1911 he was living at 39 Alexandra Road and working in a foundry.
George joined the Royal Garrison Artillery as a gunner. He first served in Egypt in April 1915. He died of his wounds in No 8 General Hospital in Rouen which was based in a large country house and its grounds in March 1918. He is buried at Bois-Guillaume Communal Cemetery.
